“You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." ~Matthew 5:13-16

A Silent Night

Christmas is in the air. "The stockings are hung by the chimney with care", people everywhere are "dreaming of a white Christmas", and kids are "making a list and checking it twice".

In the weeks leading up to Christmas I hear many ideas for keeping Christ as the center of this holiday season, but it's hard to do sometimes.  Everywhere we look we are bombarded with more things we need to buy, more parties we need to attend and we feel like money is falling out our pockets.

I do love this season, but I have to admit that if I let it, it can become a drudgery and celebrating Christmas and all the festivites just becomes another thing to add to my continually growing "to do" list.

Several years ago, God spoke to my heart about this very issue.  He showed me that I needed to set my heart and mind on keeping Christ as the center of the season and not to give in to the frenzy, hectic pace that seemed to be circling me.  That Christmas, now many years ago, was the turning point for me. I began to chose a Christmas season that was peaceful and tranquil.  And let me stress it is a choice and one I have to chose EVERY year.  That was also the year I heard for the first time a song that has become one of my all time favorite Christmas songs (click on picture below to hear the song).

This Christmas give the gift of peace and tranquility to your family.

"The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace." Psalm 29:11
